2013 TR Passalacqua Cabernet Sauvignon, Block 4

Tasting Notes

This wine was tasted on January 26, 2019 from a 750ml bottle that was stored between 50-55 degrees Fahrenheit. Older vintages may show some bottle variation depending upon storage conditions and differences in cork density. Also, please note that some library bottlings may take an additional one to two weeks to process and ship.

This 2013 Block 4 is a beautiful balancing act between intensity and elegance. Dense fruit and tannin are accented with intricate notes of soft violets and minerality. The deep, dark color and aromas of ripe black plum and licorice are laced with wet stone, while the tannins are present and firm, though pleasant for drinking now. I am excited by how great this wine is tasting now, and if cellared properly, it will continue to evolve and age handsomely through 2038.

Winemaker's Notes

Block 4 sits on a North facing hillside, exposing the grapes to gentle indirect sunlight throughout the growing season. This slow even ripening of the grapes brings out depth and density in the wine. The loam soils in Block 4 are also sprinkled with a bit of rock that lends a nuanced minerality to the wine. This unique spot produces the signature Block 4 fruit that we consistently select for its elegance and complexity.
