2013 TR Passalacqua Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon, Block 2

Tasting Notes

This wine was tasted on January 26, 2019 from a 750ml bottle that was stored between 50-55 degrees Fahrenheit. Older vintages may show some bottle variation depending upon storage conditions and differences in cork density. Also, please note that some library bottlings may take an additional one to two weeks to process and ship.

The 2013 Block 2 is a deep, dark garnet color—seemingly impenetrable. Aromas of damson plum, red currants, and sweet vanilla dominate the nose. The palate is still showing some firm tannin, but after a few swirls of the glass, they begin open and soften. The wine finishes strong with deep black cherry and cassis flavors. This wine, while drinking well presently, has much more to reveal given time. Enjoy this Cabernet through 2033.

Winemaker's Notes

The vines of Block 2 grow in Arbuckle gravel loam on a steep, south-facing slope of the TR Passalacqua Vineyard. Two years of aging in Demptos French barrels smooth the tannins and lend toasty oak and spice to perfectly complement the fruit. Enjoy the delicious black plum flavors and nice level of acidity with your lighter Cabernet dishes as well as nuts and cheeses.
