2016 Quince Pinot Noir, Russian River Valley

Tasting Notes

I love this combination of clones, the 115 brings bright boysenberry, and jasmine, clone 4 brings a blueberry note, the 667 and 777 bring black cherry and a deep rich color, and the calera clone brings depth, and earthiness. All these components come together showing richness in flavor, brimming with red fruit and a background of earth and mushroom, the palate shows elegance and depth, finishing bright and clean. This wine will continue to open and reveal with more time in the bottle.

Winemaker's Notes

Our Russian River Valley Pinot comes from a beautiful hillside vineyard just outside of Forestville. The perfect spot for Pinot Noir, the sun peeks out of the fog for a few hours during the day to ripen the grapes, then the wind and cooling fog quickly roll back in, cooling the grapes which helps to maintain bright acidity. The fruit was 100% de stemmed and went through “native” fermentation. Barrels were stirred during malolactic fermentation, the wine was aged in 100% French oak, 1/3 new, 1/3 once used, and 1/3 twice used barrels.
