The Rued clone brings opulence and breadth to the palate. Almond, mandarin, and jasmine mingle with a balancing freshness on the finish. This is a beautiful wine that will only get better with age.
This 35-acre vineyard was planted in beautiful Goldridge sandy loam soils by the Stilings in 1988, and is now owned and meticulously farmed by the Dehlinger family. There are a few special rows in this vineyard planted to the Rued clone. Also known as the “chardonnay musque”, this clonal selection produces wine of high-toned floral aromatics and a rich, lush mouthfeel. This year a few of the Rued clone barrels were so interesting and beautiful we had to bottle them up on their own. It’s a great opportunity to see how much the clonal selection can influence the final wine.
