2018 TR Passalacqua Cabernet Sauvignon

Tasting Notes

The 2018 blend is predominantly Blocks 18 & 19, with lesser amounts of Merlot, Block 23, Block 2, and Block 4, and for the first time ever a small amount of Cabernet Franc. Each of these blocks brings its own unique character to the final blend. Block 23 and Block 4 bring rich dark fruit with silkiness and depth to the mid palate, Block 2 adds a suppleness to the palate, Blocks 18&19 bring the big structure that underpins this wine, while the Merlot brings deep blue fruit and lengthens the finish, and the Cabernet Franc adds subtle floral notes. This wine is approachable now with polished and fine tannin that allows the complexities and elegance of this wine to shine.

Winemaker's Notes

All of the grapes for our coveted Cabernets come from the TR Passalacqua Vineyard. These prized 22-year-old vines are located on the western slope of Dry Creek Valley at a 400-foot elevation. The quality of the fruit comes not only from the exceptional terrain of the vineyard but also from meticulous farming practices. We grow balanced vines, using bunch thinning, leaf pulling, and limited irrigation to ensure the highest quality fruit. We drop fruit at various points in the growing season to promote even ripening, and concentration of flavors. The TR Passalacqua Cabernet is a testament to our belief that truly great wine is made in the vineyard.
