2009 TR Passalacqua Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon, Block 2

Tasting Notes

This wine was tasted on January 26, 2019 from a 750ml bottle that was stored between 50-55 degrees Fahrenheit. Older vintages may show some bottle variation depending upon storage conditions and differences in cork density. Also, please note that some library bottlings may take an additional one to two weeks to process and ship.

The 2009 vintage of Block Two shows an intriguing note of cola on the nose, deepening into dark, luscious black plum flavors on the palate. The fruit is complemented by toasted oak, nice acidity and smooth tannins softened by two years of aging in Demptos French barrels. This is the perfect companion to your Cabernet dishes such as crispy roasted duck with plum glaze.

Winemaker's Notes

This is our third year picking Block Two for our Block-Select program; harkening back to 2002 when it was the foundation for our 2002 Cabernet. The vines of Block Two grow in Arbuckle gravel loam on a steep, south-facing slope of TR Passalacqua Ranch. In 2009, the cool wet growing season allowed this block to hang longer than usual on the vine, ripening it to perfection and deepening its fruit profile.
