This wine was tasted on January 26, 2019 from a 750ml bottle that was stored between 50-55 degrees Fahrenheit. Older vintages may show some bottle variation depending upon storage conditions and differences in cork density. Also, please note that some library bottlings may take an additional one to two weeks to process and ship.
As expected, the 2009 Blocks 18 & 19 is ageing with elegance. At this 10-year mark, the wine is displaying aromas of currant, red cherry, and cedar on the nose. Hints of anise, cassis, and cigar box integrate with polished tannins to complete this well-rounded Cabernet that finishes with warm spice and vanilla. I suggest drinking this wine now, but it will continue to age beautifully through 2027.
Our most concentrated Cabernet gets its intensity of flavor from fruit grown in the ideally shaped eastern bowl of TR Passalacqua Vineyard. This terroir rewards us year to year with an elegant, balanced Cabernet which has been the cornerstone of the Passalacqua Cabernet’s since 2004. Blocks 18 & 19 grow in rich red, rocky soil and the small bunches they yield consistently have the focused, classic Cabernet fruit and the powerful tannins you have come to expect from these vineyard blocks.
