2010 TR Passalacqua Cabernet Sauvignon, Block 1

Tasting Notes

This wine shows predominant dark fruit on the nose, then transforms on the palate with toasted oak, balanced acidity, and smooth tannins softened from two years of barrel aging complementing the fruit. We love this wine with seared bone in pork chops with dark plum compote.

Winemaker's Notes

The vines of Block 1 run north to south through Arbuckle gravelly loam soil on the TR Passalacqua Ranch. This steep, south-facing hillside produces a rich complex wine that showcases deep dark fruit and an integrated tannin structure. The Cabernet from Block 1 was aged in barrels made by famed cooper Alain Fouquet, the same ones he crafts for the legendary Chateau Margaux. These were chosen to enhance the Margaux-like qualities of Block 1: seductive aromatics overlying a wine of great structure and ageability.
