2013 TR Passalacqua Cabernet Sauvignon, Blocks 18 & 19

Tasting Notes

This wine was tasted on January 26, 2019 from a 750ml bottle that was stored between 50-55 degrees Fahrenheit. Older vintages may show some bottle variation depending upon storage conditions and differences in cork density. Also, please note that some library bottlings may take an additional one to two weeks to process and ship.

Blocks 18 & 19 always bring power and structure, but in 2013 this strength is countered beautifully with a freshness and liveliness on the palate. The aromatics are an elegant orchestration of baking cocoa, dried currants, and sweet vanilla, and the palate unleashes a sweet core of red fruit and plenty of structure for the long haul. The finish is lingering with notes of nutmeg and cedar. This wine is delicious now, but if cellared properly, will continue to age through 2028.

Winemaker's Notes

Our most concentrated Cabernet gets its intensity of flavor from fruit grown in the ideally shaped eastern bowl of TR Passalacqua Vineyard. This terroir rewards us year to year with an elegant, balanced Cabernet which has been the cornerstone of the Passalacqua Cabernet’s since 2004. Blocks 18 & 19 grow in rich red, rocky soil and the small bunches they yield consistently have the focused, classic Cabernet fruit and the powerful tannins you have come to expect from these vineyard blocks.
